All LEGO Batman games in order
LEGO Batman is the series where the modern LEGO games learned to tell their own stories: the 2008 original was the first of the film-formula line without a film to follow, and by the end of the trilogy the whole Justice League had moved in. Below are all three games in order, with what each one added and the platforms linked — because those are the copies we stock and test.
The short answer
LEGO Batman: The Videogame (2008) → LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (2012) → LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (2014). No order required — start with DC Super Heroes, the one with the open Gotham.

Do you have to play them in order?
No. Each story stands alone. What release order shows is the LEGO formula growing up: the original tells its villain-breakout plot without a spoken word, DC Super Heroes adds a voice cast and an open Gotham to fly over, and Beyond Gotham trades the city for the Lantern worlds with the whole League playable.
Which one should you buy now?
- The complete one: LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes — open world, voice acting, and the moment Superman steals the show.
- The classic: the 2008 original on Wii — pure wordless LEGO slapstick with a proper villain plot.
- The biggest roster: Beyond Gotham on Wii U — space levels and a cast far past Gotham.

Three games, three eras of the LEGO formula
The 2008 original is classic silent-slapstick LEGO with its own villain plot; part 2 introduced spoken dialogue and an open-world Gotham; part 3 goes full Justice League in space. They play noticeably differently — the notes above say which flavour you are buying.
After the trilogy came LEGO DC Super-Villains
There is no LEGO Batman 4 — the 2018 follow-up flipped the premise and put the villains in charge. If you finish the trilogy and want more of the same world, that is the game to look for.
Handheld versions are their own games
The DS and 3DS releases are separate builds with adapted levels, not ports of the console versions — our 3DS copy of DC Super Heroes is that handheld build, and the listing says so.
Check the region on disc consoles
Wii and Wii U discs are PAL region-locked, and the 3DS cartridge is region-locked too. Every listing states the region and exactly what you get, loose or boxed.

Do I need to play the LEGO Batman games in order?
No. Each has a self-contained story. Release order shows the formula evolving — silent comedy, then voice acting and an open city, then the space-faring finale.
Is there a LEGO Batman 4?
No — the trilogy ended with Beyond Gotham (2014). Its successor in spirit is LEGO DC Super-Villains (2018), where you play the bad guys.
Which LEGO Batman should I start with?
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes — the open Gotham and full voice cast make it the most complete one. The 2008 original is for fans of the classic wordless LEGO style.
Was there a game of The LEGO Batman Movie?
Not a standalone one — the 2017 film got a story pack for LEGO Dimensions instead.
Can two people play together?
Yes — drop-in local co-op on one screen is the series standard. The handheld builds are single-player focused.
