All Inazuma Eleven 3DS games
By Lenn Hodes · founder — every cartridge tested by hand
Seven Inazuma Eleven cartridges came out for the Nintendo 3DS in Europe between September 2013 and March 2015: the three versions of Inazuma Eleven 3, the two of GO and the two of GO Chrono Stones. They are Level-5’s football RPGs — a story you play through, with matches you fight like battles — and every one of them still runs on a European 3DS, 2DS or New 3DS today.
The short answer
New to the series? Start with Inazuma Eleven GO: Light or Shadow. Coming from the DS games? Continue with Inazuma Eleven 3: Team Ogre Attacks!, the fullest of its three versions. One version per game is the whole game — the pairs differ only in a few recruitable players. Not on a European 3DS, whatever a listing says: GO Galaxy and the 1-2-3 compilation are Japan-only.

Game by game — the buying notes
Inazuma Eleven 3: Lightning Bolt (September 2013)
The third chapter of the original story: a Japanese national side built around the Raimon players fights through the Asian qualifiers into the Football Frontier International, against teams from England, Italy, America and more. Japan got this on the DS in 2010; Europe waited three years and got it on the 3DS instead, so this is the first Inazuma Eleven cartridge that is region-locked. The natural next step after the two DS games.
Inazuma Eleven 3: Bomb Blast (September 2013)
The paired version of Lightning Bolt, released the same day: identical story and tournament, a different set of recruitable players and a few version-exclusive scenes, the way a Pokémon pair works. Buy one of the two, not both, unless you are chasing a specific player.
Inazuma Eleven 3: Team Ogre Attacks! (February 2014)
The third version of part 3, based on the Japanese re-release that tied in with the first Inazuma Eleven film: the same tournament plus Team Ogre, the side of the story the other two versions do not have. If you only want one copy of part 3, this is the fullest — it came out last, four months after the other two, and it is usually the dearest of the three second-hand.
Inazuma Eleven GO: Light (June 2014)
A fresh start: Raimon ten years after the original trilogy, a new lead in Arion Sherwind, and the Fighting Spirit system — summoned avatars that decide a match. Built for the 3DS from the beginning rather than ported from DS, so it looks and moves better than part 3. The best entry point on this console if you have not played the DS games.
Inazuma Eleven GO: Shadow (June 2014)
The pair to Light, out the same day: one story, different exclusive players and Fighting Spirits. We see Light far more often than Shadow second-hand — four copies to one on our own shelf when this was written — so Shadow is the one to take when it appears. Either one is the whole game.
Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stones: Wildfire (March 2015)
The direct sequel to GO: an organisation from two hundred years in the future wants to erase football from history, and the team travels through time to stop it. Adds Mixi Max, which fuses two characters into one player. The last Inazuma Eleven game Europe received on the 3DS, which makes this pair the end of a European handheld collection.
Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stones: Thunderflash (March 2015)
The paired version of Wildfire, with its own exclusive recruits. Same rule as before: one of the two is the complete game. Both Chrono Stones cartridges are consistently dearer second-hand than the GO pair, so if the price is close, that is the normal gap and not a sign of a bad copy.
The 3DS Inazuma Eleven games that never reached Europe
Two more 3DS releases exist, and both stayed in Japan. Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy — Big Bang and Supernova, December 2013 — is the third GO game and the one that closes that story; it was never localised, so the European run ends with Chrono Stones. Inazuma Eleven 1-2-3!! Endou Mamoru Densetsu bundles the DS trilogy on one 3DS cartridge, also Japan-only. Neither will start on a European console: the 3DS is region-locked, and an import needs a Japanese system to go with it.
The first two games are a different case. Inazuma Eleven and Inazuma Eleven 2 are DS cartridges in Europe, and a DS cartridge is region-free and plays in every 3DS — so a complete European set is those two DS games plus the seven cartridges above. The release order of the whole series, DS to 3DS, is on all Inazuma Eleven games in order.

Browse tested Inazuma Eleven gamesQuestions we get asked
How many Inazuma Eleven games are there on the 3DS?
Seven cartridges in Europe, from three games: Inazuma Eleven 3 (Lightning Bolt, Bomb Blast and Team Ogre Attacks!), Inazuma Eleven GO (Light and Shadow) and Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stones (Wildfire and Thunderflash), released between September 2013 and March 2015. Japan had two more 3DS releases that never left the country: GO Galaxy (Big Bang and Supernova) and the 1-2-3 compilation of the DS trilogy.
Which Inazuma Eleven 3DS game should I start with?
If you played the two DS games, continue with part 3 — Team Ogre Attacks! is the fullest version. If the series is new to you, start with GO Light or Shadow: it opens a new story with a new hero, was built for the 3DS rather than ported, and Chrono Stones follows straight on from it.
Do I need both versions of each game?
No. Lightning Bolt and Bomb Blast, Light and Shadow, Wildfire and Thunderflash are paired versions of one game each, like Pokémon: the story is identical and only some recruitable players and scenes differ. One cartridge per game is the complete experience.
Why is Inazuma Eleven 3 a 3DS game in Europe when 1 and 2 are DS games?
Japan played part 3 on the DS in 2010. By the time Europe caught up in 2013 the DS was finished, so Nintendo released all three European versions on the 3DS. The DS cartridges of 1 and 2 still play on any 3DS; the 3DS cartridges of part 3 onwards do not play on a DS.
Are the 3DS Inazuma Eleven games region-locked?
Yes. A European (PAL) 3DS, 2DS or New 3DS only accepts European cartridges, so an American or Japanese copy will not start on it. Everything we sell is the European release unless the listing says otherwise, and the region is stated on every copy.
Was Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy released in Europe?
No. GO Galaxy — Big Bang and Supernova — came out in Japan in December 2013 and was never localised, and neither was the 1-2-3 compilation. The European 3DS run ends with Chrono Stones in 2015. A Japanese GO Galaxy cartridge will not run on a European console.
Can I still download the first Inazuma Eleven on the 3DS?
Not any more. The first game reached the 3DS only as an eShop download — North America got it that way in 2014 — while Europe had it as a DS cartridge from 2011. With the 3DS eShop closed since March 2023, the DS cartridge is the way to play the first game on a 3DS, and it runs in every 3DS without a region lock.
Do you ship Inazuma Eleven 3DS games across the EU?
Yes — tracked shipping from the Netherlands to all 27 EU countries, no customs charges inside the EU, and 30 days to return an order. Your country’s exact rate appears at checkout before you pay.
