All Pokémon Wii games
Three Pokémon discs came out for the Wii in Europe: one battle game for people who already have a Nintendo DS full of Pokémon, and two adventure games made for children. The battle game was built around an online service that no longer exists — which is the first thing to know before you buy it.
The short answer
Pokémon Battle Revolution (2007) if you have a DS with Diamond or Pearl — the wireless link to those still works, the online play does not. PokéPark Wii (2010) for a young child, and PokéPark 2 (2012) after it. All three also play on a Wii U.

Pokémon Battle Revolution (2007)
The successor to the Stadium and Colosseum battle games, and the first Wii game with Wi-Fi play. It reads Diamond and Pearl wirelessly — no cable, no Transfer Pak — and lets you use a Nintendo DS as the controller, with the battle menu on the touch screen. The online half died with the Wi-Fi Connection in 2014. What is left is local play against a friend or the computer, plus your own DS teams. Worth knowing before you pay a collector price.
PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure (2010)
You play as Pikachu in a park of minigames, befriending Pokémon by racing and chasing them. Made for young players and genuinely good at that job — gentle, colourful and easy to pick up. Europe got it on 9 July 2010, four months before America. A sensible first game for a six-year-old.
PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond (2012)
The sequel, with four playable characters instead of one — Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy and Tepig — and a slightly larger world. Scarcer here than the first one and priced accordingly; it arrived in March 2012, when the Wii was already being replaced.
What still works, and what does not
Nintendo closed the Wi-Fi Connection in 2014. For Pokémon Battle Revolution that removed the online battles, the tournaments and the friend codes — about half of what the game was sold on. It is the same shutdown that took the online play out of Mario Kart Wii and the DS Pokémon games.
What is untouched is the part that needs no internet: the wireless link between the Wii and a Nintendo DS running Pokémon Diamond or Pearl. Your own team appears on the television, and the DS doubles as the controller. If you have those cartridges, the game still does the thing it was really for. If you do not, you are left with rental teams and local matches — which is worth a few euros, not a collector price.

How many Pokémon games are there on the Wii?
Three on disc: Pokémon Battle Revolution (2007), PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure (2010) and PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond (2012). There was also Pokémon Rumble on WiiWare, but the Wii Shop Channel closed in 2019 and that download can no longer be bought.
Does Battle Revolution still work now that the online service is gone?
Partly. The game was built around the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which Nintendo shut down in 2014, so the online battles and the Wi-Fi tournaments are gone for good. Everything local still works: battles against the computer, two players on one console, and — importantly — reading your own teams from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on a Nintendo DS, which does not need the internet.
How do I get my own Pokémon into Battle Revolution?
Wirelessly from a Nintendo DS running Pokémon Diamond or Pearl — no cable and no Transfer Pak, unlike the N64 and GameCube games. The DS can also act as the controller, with the battle menu on its touch screen. So a DS with one of those two cartridges is effectively part of the setup.
Which Pokémon Wii game should I buy first?
It depends who is playing. For an adult with a DS full of Pokémon, Battle Revolution. For a child, PokéPark Wii — it is the gentler game and the better introduction. PokéPark 2 only after the first one, and it costs more.
Do Wii games play on a Wii U?
Yes — a Wii U plays Wii discs in its built-in Wii mode with Wii Remotes. It cannot play GameCube discs, so Pokémon Colosseum and XD need an original Wii or a GameCube.
Are Wii games region-locked?
Yes. A European disc plays on a European Wii, not on an American or Japanese one. Everything we sell is the European version unless the product page says otherwise — which with Pokémon also determines the language.
