All Zelda GameCube games
Five Zelda discs exist for the GameCube — and only three of them were ever sold in a shop. The other two came with bundles or console registration, which is the whole reason a loose copy of either now costs more than the games people actually queued for.
The short answer
Sold normally: The Wind Waker (2003), Four Swords Adventures (2005) and Twilight Princess (2006). Bundle-only: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest and the Collector’s Edition, both 2003. Start with The Wind Waker. All five also play on an original Wii, with a GameCube controller and memory card.
Every Zelda GameCube disc, in release order
| Game | Year (EU) | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| The Wind Waker | 2003 | Main game |
| Ocarina of Time / Master Quest | 2003 | Bonus disc — never sold on its own |
| Collector's Edition | 2003 | Compilation — never sold commercially |
| Four Swords Adventures | 2005 | Multiplayer spin-off |
| Twilight Princess | 2006 | Main game — final GameCube release |
Game by game — the buying notes
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003)
The cel-shaded one, and the argument that ran for a decade before everyone came round to it. A world that is nearly all sea, a boat that talks, and an art style that has aged better than any realistic game of its generation. Later remade in HD on the Wii U, but the GameCube disc is the original and the cheaper of the two.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest (2003)
The N64 game plus Master Quest, a reworked version with every dungeon rebuilt harder — its first official release anywhere. In Europe this disc came only in a limited-edition Wind Waker bundle, never as a product you could walk in and buy. That is why a loose copy costs what it does, and why the disc turns up far more often than the sleeve it came in.
The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition (2003)
Four games on one disc: the original Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, plus a Wind Waker demo. It was never sold in shops at all — it came with a GameCube bundle or went to owners who registered their console. In the UK and Ireland the allocation was a thousand copies, gone within minutes. The scarcest Zelda disc there is.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (2005)
Four Links on one screen, with each player using a Game Boy Advance as their controller and second screen — the European box includes the GameCube-to-GBA link cable, so a complete copy has it. Single player works with a normal controller. The most ambitious multiplayer Nintendo ever built and the least played, because it needed four handhelds and four cables.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (2006)
The last first-party game Nintendo released on the GameCube, on 15 December 2006, a month after the Wii had already launched with its own version of the same game. The GameCube disc is the one where the world is not mirrored — Nintendo flipped the map for the Wii release so Link would be right-handed with the remote. Collectors want this version for exactly that reason, and it is the pricier of the two.
Why two of them cost what they do
Neither the Ocarina of Time / Master Quest disc nor the Collector’s Edition was a product you could buy. The first came inside a limited-edition Wind Waker bundle in Europe; the second went out with console bundles and to owners who registered their GameCube, with a thousand copies allocated to the UK and Ireland and claimed within minutes. Neither was ever reprinted.
The practical consequence when you buy: these two circulate far more often as a bare disc than as a complete copy, because the sleeve was never a retail box. A listing that shows only the disc is normal for these two and unusual for the other three — and the difference between the two states is most of the price. We say exactly what is in the case on every listing.

How many Zelda games are there on the GameCube?
Five discs, but only three were ever sold in shops: The Wind Waker (2003), Four Swords Adventures (2005) and Twilight Princess (2006). The other two are the Ocarina of Time / Master Quest disc, which came in a limited-edition Wind Waker bundle in Europe, and the Collector’s Edition, which was never sold commercially anywhere — it came with console bundles or through console registration.
Which Zelda GameCube game should I buy first?
The Wind Waker. It is the cheapest of the three that were sold normally, it is the one the console is remembered for, and it stands entirely on its own. Twilight Princess after it if you want the long, dark one.
Is the GameCube Twilight Princess different from the Wii version?
Yes, and it matters to collectors. Nintendo mirrored the entire world for the Wii release so that Link would swing his sword right-handed with the remote. The GameCube disc has the world as it was designed, with a left-handed Link, and uses a normal controller. It also came out a month later, in December 2006, as the final first-party GameCube game.
What do I need to play Four Swords Adventures with friends?
A GameCube, the disc, and for each extra player a Game Boy Advance plus a GameCube-to-GBA link cable. The European box includes one cable, so a genuinely complete copy has it inside — check the listing. Single player needs nothing but a normal controller.
Do Zelda GameCube games play on a Wii?
On the original Wii models, yes — they have the GameCube controller ports and memory card slots under a flap on top. The later Wii Family Edition and the Wii Mini dropped that hardware, and the Wii U cannot read GameCube discs at all. You also need a GameCube controller and a GameCube memory card.
Are GameCube discs region-locked?
Yes. A European disc plays on a European GameCube or Wii, not on an American or Japanese one. Everything we sell is the European version unless the product page says otherwise.
Do you ship Zelda GameCube games across the EU?
Yes — tracked shipping from the Netherlands to all 27 EU countries, no customs charges inside the EU, and 30 days to return an order. Your country’s exact rate appears at checkout before you pay.
On a handheld instead: both Zelda DS games, the 3DS ones or the Game Boy Advance ones — or the whole series in order. Same console, different franchise: all Mario GameCube games.
