Physically, yes — and that is the only way. The eShop closed in March 2023, so cartridges are how the library stays playable. It is also why prices for good copies keep rising.
Do 3DS games work on a 2DS or New 2DS XL?
Yes, the whole 3DS library runs on every 2DS model. The only difference is that a 2DS shows the games in 2D — the stereoscopic effect is off.
Are 3DS games region-locked?
Yes — the 3DS family is region-locked. We sell European (PAL) cartridges, which work on any European 3DS or 2DS. If your console is from another region, check before ordering.
Does a 3DS also play DS games?
Yes, every 3DS and 2DS plays original Nintendo DS cartridges too — one console covers both libraries.
How does EU shipping work?
Orders ship tracked from the Netherlands to all 27 EU countries. Within the EU there are no customs charges, and the exact rate for your country is shown at checkout before you pay.
