All Just Dance Switch games in order
By Lenn Hodes · founder — every cartridge tested by hand
Just Dance has had a new edition on the Switch every autumn since the console launched — 10 so far, from Just Dance 2017 to the 2026 Edition. For a second-hand buyer the list splits cleanly in two: six editions on a real cartridge, and four that were sold as a download code in a box. Below are all ten in release order, with what each one is and which ones are worth buying used.
The short answer
Just Dance 2017 (2017) → 2018 → 2019 → 2020 → 2021 → 2022 (2021) are the six Switch cartridges. The 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 Editions came as a download code in a box — redeemed second-hand, so not a buy. That is 10 editions; pick the cartridge with the songs you like, and know that Just Dance 2022 is the newest one on a card.
Tested Just Dance Switch cartridges in stock
Every card booted on a real Switch and played into the game, the box and inlay checked when the listing says complete. Cartridges only — no code-in-a-box editions.

Edition by edition — the buying notes
Just Dance 2017 (2017)
The 2016 game arrived on the Switch on 3 March 2017, launch day, as the first dance game on the console. Same forty-song tracklist as the other platforms; the Joy-Con does the motion tracking, so no camera or extra hardware is needed. Any Just Dance Unlimited trial code in the box will long have expired — buy it for the songs on the cartridge.
Just Dance 2018
€18.95Personally tested Good condition
Europe got it on 26 October 2017. The first edition built with the Switch in mind: up to six players with Joy-Con and phones mixed, and a Kids mode with easier routines. Common and cheap second-hand, and everything on the card works offline.
Just Dance 2019
€25.95Personally tested Good condition
Released in Europe on 25 October 2018. A redesigned menu and a stronger Kids mode; otherwise the familiar formula with that year’s chart songs. One of the easiest Just Dance cartridges to find complete in its box.
Just Dance 2020
€25.95Personally tested Good condition
Out on 5 November 2019 — the tenth anniversary edition, and the last Just Dance ever released on the Wii, which makes the Switch version the one to pick for a modern console. All-Stars mode brings back a decade of hits on the cartridge.
Just Dance 2021
€20.95Personally tested Good condition
Released 12 November 2020, in the middle of the lockdown winter when the series sold better than ever. Quick Play mode and a new co-op mode; the Switch version plays identically to the PlayStation 5 one. Plenty of copies about.
Just Dance 2022
€32.95Personally tested Good condition
Out on 4 November 2021, and the one that matters most for a second-hand buyer: it is the last Just Dance sold on an actual Switch cartridge. Everything from the 2023 Edition on is a download code in a box. If you want a Just Dance you can lend, sell on or play without an account, this is the newest one.
Cartridge or code in a box — how to tell
From the 2023 Edition on, Ubisoft stopped putting Just Dance on a Switch game card. The retail box looks the same on a shelf, but inside is a slip with a download code. That code is redeemed once, on one account, and a second owner gets an empty box. It is the single most common disappointment we hear about in this series, so the rule is simple: second-hand, buy Just Dance 2022 or older.
The cartridges are the opposite case. Every song printed on the box is on the card, plays offline and needs no subscription; the save lives on your console, so a used card starts fresh; and the Joy-Con does the tracking on every Switch model — original, Lite, OLED and Switch 2 alike. What we check is the card itself: that it reads, boots and plays on a real Switch, and whether the box and inlay are there when the listing says so.
The four code-in-a-box editions, in release order
| Game | Year (EU) | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Just Dance 2023 Edition | 2022 | Live-service edition — code in a box |
| Just Dance 2024 Edition | 2023 | Yearly song pack — code in a box |
| Just Dance 2025 Edition | 2024 | Yearly song pack — code in a box |
| Just Dance 2026 Edition | 2025 | Yearly song pack — code in a box |
Just Dance 2023 Edition (2022)
Released 22 November 2022 on a new engine, with online multiplayer and song packs added through the year. The retail box holds a download code, not a cartridge; once redeemed it is tied to an account and worth nothing to the next owner. Buy it new or digitally.
Just Dance 2024 Edition (2023)
Out 24 October 2023 as the second yearly pack on the 2023 engine. Same format: a code in the box, no card. Second-hand copies are almost always redeemed — we do not sell them for that reason.
Just Dance 2025 Edition (2024)
Released 15 October 2024, code in a box again. If you already own the 2023 Edition, the newer tracklists are also sold as add-ons inside that game.
Just Dance 2026 Edition (2025)
Out 14 October 2025, the fourth code-in-a-box edition and the newest on this list. Just Dance: Decades of Hits, due 13 October 2026, is announced as the first Just Dance built for the Switch 2.

How many Just Dance games are there on the Nintendo Switch?
Ten yearly editions, Just Dance 2017 through the 2026 Edition. Six of them — 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 — come on a real Switch cartridge. The 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 Editions were sold as a download code in a retail box, so there is no cartridge to buy second-hand. Just Dance: Decades of Hits, due in October 2026, is the first edition built for the Switch 2.
Which Just Dance should I buy second-hand for a Switch?
Just Dance 2022 or older — those are the cartridges. Pick the year with the songs you like; the gameplay barely changes between editions. A used 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 Edition box almost always contains a redeemed code and is worth nothing, which is why we only sell the cartridge editions.
Do I need a camera or special controller for Just Dance on Switch?
No. The Joy-Con in your right hand does the motion tracking, and up to six players can join with a mix of Joy-Con and phones running the free Just Dance Controller app. A Switch Lite works too, with a separate pair of Joy-Con or with phones.
Do Just Dance Switch games work on the Switch 2?
Yes. All six cartridges play on a Nintendo Switch 2, and the Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 controllers track movement the same way. Just Dance: Decades of Hits, due 13 October 2026, is the first edition made for the new console specifically.
Is Just Dance Unlimited or Just Dance+ included?
Not second-hand. The subscription that unlocks hundreds of extra songs came as a trial code in the box on the older editions, and those codes expire. The songs printed on the box — forty per edition — are on the cartridge and play offline without any subscription.
Does a used Switch cartridge come with someone else’s save?
No. A Switch stores save data on the console, not on the game card, so a second-hand cartridge starts fresh — your dancers, scores and progress live on your own console.
Are Switch games region-locked?
No. The Switch is region-free, so a European Just Dance card plays on any console. The tracklists of the European editions are the same as the American ones. Everything we sell is the European version unless the product page says otherwise.
Do you ship Just Dance Switch games across the EU?
Yes — tracked shipping from the Netherlands to all 27 EU countries, no customs charges inside the EU, and 30 days to return an order. The exact rate for your country appears at checkout before you pay.
