We ship from the Netherlands: your parcel crosses the ocean, so it takes longer and costs more than a domestic delivery. US import duties are calculated at checkout and prepaid — nothing is due on delivery.
On a US console: Game Boy games have no region lock, so this European (PAL) edition plays on a US Game Boy. Game text in English; the box and manual are the European print.
US import duties (12.5%) are added at checkout and prepaid — nothing is due on delivery. Prices and checkout are in US dollars at our fixed shop rate — your bank converts nothing.
Why does shipping abroad cost this much?
Inside the Netherlands a single game fits through the letterbox — $4.93, tracking included. That service stops at the border. Anything leaving the country goes with PostNL as an international parcel, which is a different and considerably more expensive service. That is where the $38.05 comes from: the border itself is not what costs money, the cheap service simply ends there.
That amount covers the PostNL rate to your country plus the packaging: bubble mailer or box, an antistatic sleeve for the cartridge, and tape. We never drop the tracking — on a parcel that crosses a border, shipping without proof of delivery is a risk for both of us.
Without you there would be nothing to grow. Every order that comes in here is the reason this shop can get bigger — and the reason I can keep doing this.

About this product
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons for Game Boy / Color — the Zelda series stands for timeless adventure and belongs in every Nintendo collection.
Game Boy Color Zelda with a season-changing mechanic. Link it with Oracle of Ages for the secret final boss.
Cartridge cleaned and tested on original hardware, ready to play.
The Game Boy / Color came out in 1989: monochrome screen, AA batteries and 8-bit classics — the console that defined handheld gaming. On the original cartridge the game runs the way it was meant to — and keeps working for years to come.
Who is this for? Anyone who would rather play on a real Game Boy / Color than in an emulator — collectors who want the original in their hands, and players who simply want that feeling back.
Game Boy games have no region lock, so this European (PAL) edition plays on a US Game Boy. Game text in English; the box and manual are the European print. Every item passes our authenticity check (shell, board, Nintendo markings) and a function test — you're buying 100% original Nintendo.
Shipped from the Netherlands with PostNL tracking to the US: from $38.05, import duties paid at checkout. 30-day returns.
Seen it cheaper elsewhere?
For most titles there’s also a private listing online, sometimes a few euros cheaper. The difference isn’t in the title, but in the copy itself and in everything around it.
- Does it work?
- Here: Has been running here — save and label checked — before it went online.
- Private seller: ‘Works’ in the photo. You test it yourself, after buying.
- Is it genuine?
- Here: Six checks: screw, label, circuit board, weight, save and boot. A reproduction doesn’t get through.
- Private seller: Fakes are a plague with Pokémon and GBA games, and in a photo you can’t tell the difference.
- If it disappoints?
- Here: 30-day cooling-off period, and a 30-day warranty that it works.
- Private seller: No right of withdrawal: consumer law doesn’t apply between private individuals. Buyer protection only covers the first 48 hours after delivery; after that you’re on your own.
- Who’s behind it?
- Here: One person, who has held this game personally and answers your question personally.
- Private seller: Varies per listing.
Why you still remember this
The field where you first got lost
There was a moment when you walked outside and nobody told you which way to go. No arrow, no waypoint — just a horizon and the thought that something was out there. Few games since have dared to give you that feeling of real discovery.
One copy, this copy. Emulation gives you back the pictures, not the weight of the cartridge and the wait for the title screen.

Compatibility — Game Boy / Color
Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges are 100% backwards compatible within the Game Boy line and also work on the GBA and the Game Boy Player.
| Console | Works? |
|---|---|
| Game Boy (original) | Yes |
| Game Boy Pocket | Yes |
| Game Boy Light (Japan only) | Yes |
| Game Boy Color | Yes |
| Game Boy Advance | Yes |
| Game Boy Advance SP | Yes |
| Game Boy Player (GameCube) | Yes |
- Game Boy (original): Native — GB titles only (no GBC-only games)
- Game Boy Pocket: Native — smaller size, same compatibility
- Game Boy Light (Japan only): Native
- Game Boy Color: Native — plays GB + GBC games
- Game Boy Advance: Backwards compatible (all GB/GBC titles)
- Game Boy Advance SP: Backwards compatible
- Game Boy Player (GameCube): Accessory — GB/GBC/GBA on your TV
Please note
- •Grey (GB) and black (dual-mode) cartridges work on every system above — the black ones in greyscale on a Game Boy without colour.
- •Color-only cartridges (clear) do NOT work on the original Game Boy or Pocket.
- •The Game Boy Micro does NOT play GB/GBC — GBA only.
How we test Game Boy / Color games for authenticity
GB and GBC cartridges (1989-2002) are a favourite target for counterfeiters. We go through these five steps on every cartridge. Every Game Boy / Color game in our shop goes through this five-step check before it is sold.
- 1
Gamebit screw (3.8 mm)
A screw on the back that only opens with a 3.8 mm gamebit — not an ordinary Phillips screw.
- 2
Product code with DMG- or CGB- prefix
DMG- for the classic GB, CGB- for Game Boy Color. No prefix: then it is a counterfeit.
- 3
Label + Nintendo Seal of Quality
Sharp print, gold Seal of Quality, label perfectly applied.
- 4
Cartridge weight
Game Boy 18-24 g, Game Boy Color 22-25 g (measured range). Counterfeits with thinner plastic fall noticeably below that.
- 5
Start-up test
The Nintendo logo + title screen appear within 2 to 3 seconds. No corrupted sprites or crashes.
What we see with Game Boy / Color games
Our experience
GB + GBC cartridges have different properties: the original GB works in black and white, the GBC in colour. Some GBC cartridges (such as Pokémon Crystal) do NOT work on the original GB. That is why every product states explicitly what it works on.
Our tip
Check which system you have: the original GB plays grey and black (dual-mode) cartridges, but not the clear Colour-only games. The GBC plays everything from GB and GBC. The GBA plays GB + GBC + GBA. If you want to be able to play everything, a GBA SP is the safest choice.

About Game Boy / Color
Game Boy / Color cartridges are compatible with both the original Game Boy and the Game Boy Color. They use colour on GBC hardware but also work (in black and white) on the original Game Boy. That gives maximum flexibility to players with both consoles.
- Dual-compatible — works on the Game Boy and the Game Boy Color.
- Popular titles: Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.
- Recognisable by the black cartridge shell — grey is Game Boy-only, clear is Colour-only.
- The cartridge itself does not wear out; only the coin cell for the save can be flat after 25+ years, and it can be replaced.
Our tip: These cartridges also fit in the Game Boy Advance and GBA SP (backwards compatible), which makes them one of the most flexible cartridge types.
